Bijou Commerce, the b2b SaaS platform, has today announced a crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs, the Neil Woodford-backed investment platform recently named Top Investor in private companies (Beauhurst). The business is looking for £800K from investors to fund its expansion and platform development plans.
Retail customers are going mobile, but building an effective mobile app can be difficult and expensive for retailers. Bijou’s platform integrates with a client’s existing e-commerce system via easy-to-install plugins, and synchronises the all the key product, stock, order and user information in real time. This ensures retailers avoid costly and frustrating data discontinuity between website and app, and can get the app to market quickly.
Bijou provides a cloud-based solution that empowers retailers of all sizes to capitalise on the increasing number of consumers using mobile technology to shop. The opportunity is there: in a market estimated to be worth £112 billion, 42% of users say that shopping online is not an enjoyable experience, and just 16% of mobile baskets currently convert into sales (Criteo). Bijou Commerce is on a mission to fill this mobile monetisation gap, by enabling retailers to roll out a high performing app without months of development and integration work.
Notable board members at Bijou Commerce include New Look founder Tom Singh and ex-Google UK Managing Director Dan Cobley, with a wealth of sector experience and expertise to offer. Blenheim Chalcot, another early seed investor, is the UK’s leading venture builder, with portfolio company sales totalling over £300 million to date. With the product right, the business’s main focus now for 2017 is marketing and sales, which will supported by the funds raised on Seedrs.
Tom Singh, New Look founder and board director at Bijou Commerce, says: “The easiest way to generate incremental revenue is to get your most loyal customers to spend more. It’s clear that on mobile, apps are the best way to do that, and Bijou’s platform is the best way for retailers to get an effective app quickly.”
Dan Cobley, ex-Google UK managing director and board director at Bijou Commerce, adds: “Offering a scalable API with full back-end integration, swipe-led customer insights, unparalleled integration and deep personalisation, we are confident that Bijou Commerce is poised to transform the way retailers go to market on mobile.”
Olly Cooper, founder of Bijou Commerce says: “In the last three months alone, we have signed a partnership with Bronto, one of the world’s leading email service providers with a lengthy retail client list, and are going live with our first two transactional clients – ethical fast fashion brand Nobody’s Child, and a classic menswear brand to be announced shortly. Now we have the product absolutely right – which was key – it is time to start a big sales push and expand the business across the UK and beyond fashion into new retail verticals.”
Bijou Commerce is part of Blenheim Chalcot (www.blenheimchalcot.com), the UK’s leading venture builder. Founded in 1998, Blenheim Chalcot specialises in building digital businesses that transform industries. It has portfolio sales of over £300m, more than 3,000 employees, and a successful track record of over 40 companies.
